OVERCOLLATERALIZATION

A technique to protect the investor on a securitized transaction. Basically- the lessor can set aside additional funds in a reserve or transfer more than sufficient assets to the investor vehicle. By doing so- the lessor has effectively provided a cushion that can generate cash flow in the event the lessee receivables are not sufficient to provide enough cash to satisfy investors' requirements.
