Jon's name is prominent on many of the fundamental standards on which the Internet is built, such as UDP . He ran IANA for as long as anybody could remember, in fact for most of the time he *was* IANA.
He wrote STD 1 , STD 2 and several dozen other RFC s. His friend Vinton Cerf noted his passing in RFC 2468 .
