Tim Berners-Lee was the driving force behind the development of the WWW. He wrote the first WWW client and server and defined the standards such as URL, HTML and HTTP while working at the European Laboratory for Particle Physics, more popularly known as CERN. Tim is now with the Laboratory for Computer Science ( LCS) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology ( MIT). He also directs the W3 Consortium.
