II. Bruce, Rob ‧ ert (the) /ˈrɒbət $ ˈrɑːbərt/ BrE AmE

(1274–1329) the King of Scotland from 1306 till his death. Scotland was recognized as independent under him in 1328. The story that most people know about Robert the Bruce is that he watched a ↑ spider trying to make a ↑ web . Each time the spider failed, it started again. This showed determination, which encouraged Bruce to do the same.
