Davis, Bet ‧ te /ˈbeti/ BrE AmE

(1908–89) one of America's greatest film actresses, who often appeared as characters who were not specially beautiful but were very determined, and who secretly made clever or dishonest plans to get what they wanted. She was also known for her beautiful eyes. Her films include Jezebel (1938), Now Voyager (1942), All About Eve (1950), and Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962).
