Doyle, Rod ‧ dy /dɔɪl, ˈrɒdi $ ˈrɑː-/ BrE AmE
(1958–) an Irish writer whose novels deal humorously with the lives of WORKING-CLASS people living in Dublin. They include The Commitments , which is also a successful film, and Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha , which won the Booker Prize in 1993.
