Els, Ernie /els/ BrE AmE
(1969–) a South African golfer who has won many of golf’s most important competitions, including the US Open in 1994 and 1997 and the British Open in 2002. He is sometimes referred to in the newspapers and on television as ‘The Big Easy’.
