a television show in the 1990s in the US and UK in which members of the public competed against the Gladiators -- men and women who appeared regularly on the show, who were very fit, had big muscles, and had names such as Panther, Hunter, and Wolf. They played games using special equipment that tested their strength and physical fitness, often high in the air.
