(1923–2007) a US writer and ↑ journalist , known for dealing with social and political subjects and for criticizing US society. His books often contain a lot of sex and violence, and many of them are based on real events. They include The Naked and the Dead (1948) and An American Dream . He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1969 for The Armies of the Night , and in 1980 for The Executioner's Song .
