Mish ‧ i ‧ ma, Yu ‧ ki ‧ o /ˈmɪʃɪmə, ˈjuːkiəʊ/ BrE AmE

(1925–70) a Japanese writer generally considered to be the most important Japanese writer of novels of the 20th century. He wrote about modern Japan and wanted to return to older, more traditional Japanese values. His best-known books include Confessions of a Mask and The Sea of Fertility . He killed himself using the traditional Japanese method of HARA-KIRI after a military ↑ coup by his small private army was unsuccessful.
