Ork ‧ ney /ˈɔːkni $ ˈɔːr-/ BrE AmE ( also ˈthe Orkney ˌIslands, ), the Orkneys
a group of islands off the north coast of Scotland, south of the Shetland Islands. Farming and fishing are the main industries, but the islands are also a base for the North Sea oil industry.
