(1893–1967) a US writer of poetry and short stories, who also wrote ↑ review s of books, plays etc for magazines such as The New Yorker . She was one of the main members of the ↑ Algonquin Round Table , a group of writers who met regularly at a hotel in New York City. She is remembered especially for her many clever and funny sayings in which she criticized US society and well-known people.
