(1926–) an American man, born in Denmark, who married a rich American woman called Martha ‘Sunny’ Crawford. In 1982 he was found guilty of trying to murder her. But his lawyers succeeded in persuading the High Court that a new trial was necessary, and at the end of the second trial he was found not guilty.
