MITOMYCIN

[mi.to.my.cin] n [ISV mito- (prob. fr. NL mitosis) + -mycin] (1956): a complex of antibiotic substances which is produced by a Japanese streptomyces (Streptomyces caespitosus) and one form of which acts directly on DNA and shows promise as an anticancer agent
