a high-speed, high-capacity transmission medium that can carry many, many signals from multiple independent network carriers on a single coaxial or fiberoptic cable, by establishing different bandwidth channels. In terms of Internet connectivity, broadband is much faster than regular dial-up access, and allows for the possibility of faster downloads and more effective and usable multimedia applications.
