PURGATORY

The Roman Catholic Church teaches that a person who is guilty of having committed unforgiven minor sins when they die goes to this place or state. They will be purified through punishment for an interval of time before going to heaven. Belief in Purgatory was never accepted by the Orthodox Churches; it was rejected by the Protestant Churches.
