The ability to offer a gift to a child, generally the son of someone more powerful than you, that makes you look wise. Example: Say what you will about Doug, but that guy's got frankinsense. He just gave the boss's son the 26-volume set of the _Complete Works of Mark Twain_. And--guess what?--he's been promoted.
