1. used to get someone's attention. ("Yo, come here.") 2. used at the end of a sentence to emphasize a point. ("What's up, yo?" "You going to hook me up, yo?" "That's my knife, yo.") 3. used as a prefix to a greeting. ("Yo, man, what's up?") Notes: "Yo" is the first person pronoun (i.e. "I") in Spanish.
