ECLECTUSES (ECLECTUS RORATUS)

Meaning of ECLECTUSES (ECLECTUS RORATUS) in English

When I think of Eclectus, what comes to mind is: beauty and serenity. They do make great pets -- far less noisy and destructive than other larger parrots. They do learn to talk as well -- always sounding like "little girls" -- with pretty clear voices too. They are less demanding than cockatoos for sure, and are not exactly known "to learn tricks". I found the male eclectus to be quite sensitive, who easily starts plucking himself when under stress -- once the stress is eliminated, and provided the habit hasn't been established yet, he will stop plucking. Knowing their personality, I would say that the female eclectus is best chosen for households where there is "a lot going on". Screaming kids, lots of visitors, occasional heated discussions. The female seems to be able to cope with that better. The male eclectus oftentimes is better suited for a quiet home (maybe without kids?). He is less aggressive than the female, more gentle in nature. Eclectuses have a need for fresh fruits / veggies every day due to their long digestive tract. They are more likely than other parrots to suffer from nutritional deficiencies, since many people ignore their special needs.
