The temperature scale developed in 1742 by Swedish astronomer, Anders Celsius (1701-1744). The scale defines the boiling temperature of water as 100° C and the freezing temperature of water as 0° C at standard atmospheric pressure. It is the standard temperature scale for science and industry. Multiply the Celsius temperature by 9/5 and add 32 to the result to obtain the equivalent Fahrenheit temperature.
