CENOZOIC ERA

The current geologic era, which began 65 million years ago, following the Mesozoic. The Cenozoic is subdivided into the Tertiary and Quaternary periods. The Quaternary period began about 1.8 million years ago. The Quaternary is subdivided into the Pleistocene and Holocene epochs.
