CHAPARRAL

This is the name given to woody evergreen shrubby vegetation that grows on thin dry rocky soils in some semi-arid lands. Chaparral grows in regions that experience a 'Mediterranean" climate with dry hot summers and mild wet winters. The word "chaparro" is Spanish and is used for evergreen oak thickets in Spain.
