MOIST CONVECTION

Buoyant ascent of warm, moist air. When the air is lifted to a level where it is cooled enough to saturate, clouds and possible precipitation result. During ascent, moist parcels cool at the same rate as seen in the moist adiabatic lapse rate. The depth of the convection is determined by the lapse rate of the ambient air.
