RAIN GAUGE

A measuring instrument which measures precipitation. One standard automated type is called the tipping bucket, which releases the collected precipitation at designated increments. A heated variety can also be used in the wintertime to melt snow into its rain equivalent amount. The amount of rain is then digitally recorded.
