1. of an archer's bow : made of two or more strips glued together, one piece forming the back and another the belly — contrasted with self
2. of cloth : woven with a second set of threads in the warp or weft for additional weight or reversibility — see double cloth
3. of photographic film or plate : coated on the side opposite the emulsion with a substance to absorb light and hence reduce halation
