: a Brazilian palm ( Raphia taedigera ) attaining an overall height of 70 feet of which not more than 6 or 8 feet represents stem, the remainder consisting of extremely large leathery pinnatisect leaves that are arranged in a terminal crown and rise from long strong stems which are used locally for various structural purposes
