: a fugitive yellow dye made by heating para-toluidine and sulfur together and sulfonating the product that can be diazotized on the fiber and coupled with a phenol or amine to yield various developed dyes (as red colors of good fastness to washing but not to light) — see dye table I (under Direct Yellow 59 )
