1. : a mineral of the scapolite group that is intermediate in composition between meionite and marialite, contains 46 to 54 percent of silica, and resembles feldspar when massive but has a fibrous appearance and higher specific gravity (sp. gr. 2.66-2.73) — called also wernerite
