MOTHERBOARD

(1) (n.) The main circuit board of a computer. The motherboard contains slots for plugging in other boards for functions such as memory, controllers, video, and so on. A motherboard usually contains the CPU, memory, BIOS, ports, controllers, and so on. See also daughterboard .
