Meaning of WIND RIVER RANGE in English

mountain range in the central Rocky Mountains, west-central Wyoming, U.S. The range extends for 100 miles (160 km) northwestsoutheast to the Sweetwater River and is part of the Continental Divide. The range contains many peaks above 12,000 feet (3,658 m), including Mount Warren (13,720 feet ), Fremont Peak (13,730 feet ), and the highest point in Wyoming, Gannett Peak (13,804 feet ). In the north is Togwotee Pass (9,662 feet ), and at the southern end of the range is the historic South Pass (7,743 feet ), through which ran the old Oregon Trail. Parts of Bridger and Shoshone national forests and Wind River Indian Reservation are included in the range. The Wind River and its branches flow from the east side of the range into the Bighorn River; the Green River rises on the range's western slopes.
