BRIXTON

Meaning of BRIXTON in English

a district of south London, England. It is well known as one of the most multicultural parts of London, with large communities of Afro-Caribbean people, and smaller communities from many European, African and Asian countries. In the early 1980s there were violent protests on the streets of Brixton, called the Brixton riots , against the lack of jobs and houses, and the prejudice of some members of the police against people of other races. As a result the government spent money on improving the houses, the sports centre and the opportunities for young people in Brixton:

Karen buys all her clothes in Brixton market.
