I . Gerald Durrell
(1925–95)
an English zoologist (= person who studies animals) and author of books about his life studying and collecting animals. These include My Family and Other Animals (1956) and A Zoo in my Luggage (1960). He was the younger brother of Lawrence Durrell .
II . Lawrence Durrell
(1912–90)
an English author and poet, best known for his sequence of four novels The Alexandria Quartet . Born in India, Durrell lived most of his life in the eastern Mediterranean, where many of his books are set. He was the older brother of Gerald Durrell .
