Meaning of FCC in English

( in full the Federal Communications Commission )

an independent US government organization, created in 1934, which makes decisions about communications. This includes the use of television, radio, wires and satellites. The FCC gives stations their licences and the wave ranges on which they can broadcast. It also puts pressure on stations to avoid offensive programmes.
