FOOT GUARDS


Meaning of FOOT GUARDS in English

( in Britain ) five infantry regiments (= large military groups of soldiers who fight on foot) whose historical duty has been to protect the king or queen. They are the Grenadier Guards , the Coldstream Guards , the Scots Guards , the Irish Guards and the Welsh Guards . They are considered the best soldiers of their kind in the British Army.
