( Alfred Edward Housman 1859–1936)
an English writer of poetry who taught Latin at London and Cambridge universities. His best-known work is A Shropshire Lad , a collection of short poems which have been set to music by at least fifty composers, including George Butterworth, Lennox Berkeley , Samuel Barber and John Ireland.
