Meaning of PALLADIANISM in English

a style of architecture based on the work of Andrea Palladio, a 16th–century Italian architect who was influenced by the buildings of ancient Greece and Rome. Buildings in the Palladian style often have a pediment (= a large triangle above the entrance) and many columns. The style became fashionable in Britain in the 18th century after it was introduced by Inigo Jones , and led to the development of neoclassicism .
