the name used in the US to refer to any American woman who worked in factories to help the war effort during World War II . A riveter fixes sheets of metal together with thick metal pins. The name was used as the title of a popular song, and a real riveter, called Rose Monroe, was chosen for a famous poster which showed a woman worker saying, ‘We can do it!’.
