a popular satirical programme on British television (1962–3). It was broadcast live late on Saturday nights on BBC , and was presented by David Frost . It was the first British television programme to make fun of the Establishment and to make jokes that were critical of politicians. It caused much public debate and was criticized by several leading politicians. Later satirical programmes were influenced by its style.
