GODS

Meaning of GODS in English

[Other] Gods are superior beings who distinguish themselves from other beings or spirits through their higher qualities (power and status) and usually worshipped as such. Other than the one God in monotheism gods are not regarded as being perfect or eternal. In fact, some are not even immortal. They are, however, attributed supernatural powers and aspects and may be beneficent towards humanity, although others are malignant, while yet others are neutral: neither good nor bad. There are male, female, and androgynous deities. Besides that, there are many categories of gods, depending on their functions, the forces of nature or human society they represent, their habitat, etc. Some of those categories are: sun-gods, sky-gods, fertility gods, water-gods (rain, ocean), chthonic gods, storm-gods, etc.
