NATIONAL PRIMARY DRINKING WATER REGULATIONS (NPDWR)

Meaning of NATIONAL PRIMARY DRINKING WATER REGULATIONS (NPDWR) in English

Regulations for public drinking water supply systems that include health-based standards for various contaminants, and monitoring and analysis requirements. Issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under authority of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). While the NPDWR set standards protective of the public health, the National Secondary Drinking Water Regulations (NSDWR) set aesthetic standards for drinking water, i.e., color, odor, taste, etc. Also see Drinking Water Standards, Drinking Water Standards (Nevada), Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL), and Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG).
