Meaning of BRI [BASIC RATE INTERFACE] in English

A standard digital telecommunication service available in over 35 countries and in most of the United States, with an ability to digitally transmit both voice and data over standard 64 kilobit lines. The lower bandwidth of ISDN, BRI is also known as 2 B + D, as it is comprised of two B ('bearer') channels: each capable of delivering 64 kilobits of data per second, along with one D ('data') channel: used for signalling. You transfer approximately one megabyte of data per minute per BRI line, and a number of technologies exist that allow you channelize a file across multiple BRIs for faster distribution. Sometimes BRI is referred to as MicroLink service.
