Meaning of OGBOMOSHO in English

City (pop. 1991: 433,030), southwestern Nigeria.

Founded in the mid 17th century, it was an outpost of the Oyo empire until the Muslim Fulani conquests in the early 19th century. As a centre of resistance, the walled town attracted many Oyo refugees. Located northeast of Ibadan , it is one of Nigeria's largest urban centres. It is also a trading centre and rail junction.
