Indian mystic and theologian who is responsible for the revival of Sunnite Islam in India.
He traced his descent from Akbar and his successor, Jahāngīr, toward pantheism and {{link=Shiite">Shīite Islam. His views are outlined in his most famous work, Maktūbāt , a compilation of his letters. His burial place at Sirhind is a site of pilgrimage.
