town, Seville province, in the autonomous community (region) of Andalusia, southern Spain. It lies southeast of Seville city between the Guadaira and Guadalquivir rivers. The town was founded by Ferdinand III of Castile at the time of his conquest of Seville (1248) and named Dos Hermanas (two sisters) for the sisters of his lieutenant, Gonzalo Nazareno. Olives are the main agricultural product of the region, which also has a hemp industry and limestone quarries. Pop. (1981) 50,727.
