ELECTRON BEAM

stream of electrons (as from a betatron) used chiefly in research, technology, and medical therapy to produce X rays and images on television, oscilloscope, and electron-microscope screens. Electrons may be collimated by holes and slits, and, because they are electrically charged, they may be deflected, focused, and energized by electric and magnetic fields.
