Three branch campuses are located in Broward county, and the Northern Palm Beach Campus is at Palm Beach Gardens. Research facilities include a robotics laboratory, an ocean engineering laboratory, and a native fish research centre. Total enrollment exceeds 15,000. The university was established in 1961, with instruction beginning three years later. Florida Atlantic was the fifth university established in the Florida state system. The Pine Jog Environmental Education Center and the Florida-Israel Institute are among its branch campus facilities.
