GLOEOCAPSA

genus belonging to the order Chroococcales in the phylum Cyanophyta (the blue-green algae), with either single or clustered cells enclosed in concentric layers of mucilage. Largely terrestrial, they are found on rocks or moist soils. Some are symbiotic with fungi, forming lichens.
