city, Kyongsang-puk do (province), south-central South Korea. It lies near the junction of the Kumi River and the Naktong River. Developed after the Korean War (195053) as an industrial city, Kumi is the site of South Korea's largest inland planned industrial complex, covering an area of nearly 4 square miles (10 square km). Electronics is the principal manufacture. Mount Kumo (3,205 feet ) is 3 miles (5 km) southwest of the city. On the summit of the mountain is an old castle and Point Hanksa temple. Pop.
