born April 25, 1214, Poissy, Fr. died Aug. 25, 1270, near Tunis; canonized Aug. 11, 1297, feast day August 25 also called Saint Louis king of France from 1226 to 1270, the most popular of the Capetian monarchs. He led the Seventh Crusade to the Holy Land in 124850 and died on another crusade to Tunisia.
