It is conical in shape, rising to Lata Mountain (3,179 ft ); the main village is Luma on the west coast. Ofu (3 sq mi) and Olosega (2 sq mi) are separated by a narrow channel, about eight miles northwest of Tau. Pop. (1980) 1,732.
